Hi, I filed my I-765 on June 1st 2017 based on pending I-485. It has not been processed after 7 months. The current processing time showed Aug 1st , 2017 for a long time (more than 4 months passed my priority date). My I-140 was approved on July 2017. I have an OPT work authorization and currently working based on that but my employer threatened to end my employment. I have filed 3 service request so far and each time they sent me a notice that "your case is inline with others and you shall receive a response in two months". My OPT work authorization expiring mid Feb and I am losing my job because of their delay. My attorney told me, since I am switching from OPT to EAD , I am not eligible for 180 days work without work authorization. Recently I went to USCS San Diego local office to see if they can help giving me a temporary work permit. The officer told me they can not issue any temporary work authorization but I shall file an expedite request. I filed that along with a letter from myself and a letter from my employer both burdening financial loss. Their response is that "at this time files will only be expedited if a true emergency exist!!!" It seems from their point of view losing my job and living without income and health insurance for a family of 4 is not an emergency! Moreover the financial loss to my employer who is paying lots of taxes every year is not an emergency to the extent they process a temporary work authorization in normal processing time. Any idea how to deal with such a situation? Any other options that I am not aware of or do you know any way to talk to the real officer instead of phone operators at National Benefit Center?

HI,
I have also applied for AP and EAD based on pending I-485 at Jul 3rd. No news! I am not sure what is going on. I have lots of other Iranian friends that they got their EAD after 3-5 month. MY in now more than 6 month. I am still student and I do not actually need it but I can understand how necessary is for you.
Based on the experience of 2 of my friends it seems if you ask your local congressman or state senator to follow up with USCIS it helps. It seems you would need a letter from you company and you can even call office of senator for this matter. For 2 of my friends that I have mentioned they got their Combo card less that a week after they asked senator office to take care of their problem.

You guys are not alone. I’m waiting since June-6 onwards and multiple service requests including an expedite did not help a bit. Contacted local congresswoman Office 2 weeks ago and still no luck whatsoever.
Only silver lining is, couple of cases from Nebraska got approved last week for people who have applied in May last week.
Hope for the best!
