I485 - Case Was Transferred to NBC

Hi All,

Just an update on my case. I had an infopass appointment at the USCIS office in Downtown Los Angeles.

The officer said that my case with NBC is flagged as ready. He was not able to tell me if I will have the interview or not, but he said if you are going to have an interview then my application is ready for it. The case is still with NBC and has not been transferred to Local Field Office. My case falls under the Los Angeles County and not Los Angeles City so if I wished to track the timelines on the USCIS.GOV then I should be looking at the timeline for Los Angeles County field office. Also he mentioned that the dates are decisive as it is not most up to to date dates.

Currently Los Angeles County field office has no capacity to pick up the application from NBC for interviews. They are overloaded with the cases and he said that they can not give any times lines on when my case will be picked for interview. Unless the Office has the capacity to incorporate any interviews they will not pick up my case from the NBC office. He said that since my application is in the ready status my background checks are done.

Ultimately you will suffer if you filed you case from any big city like myself. LA County office is overloaded with cases and are running way behind on the cases. There is nothing that anyone can do. You just have to wait until they send you and update or interview letter if they need to interview. This means if the Field office has less traffic you will get the Interview soon if the field office is busy you will see a delay. Depends on city to city and state to state

Thanks for that nice info. Unfortunately, I think we will be seeing more and more of this in the coming months, where there will be a backlog in transferring cases from NBC to local field offices as the field offices become swamped... followed by a backlog in transferring cases from Nebraska/Texas to NBC as NBC becomes swamped...

That is unfortunate. On a more positive note, there is some movement in November/December NBC transfer thread. People from boston and seattle are getting interview notices within 2 months after transfer to NBC. Those cities are not as big as LA but not small either. It really seems to be all over the place. I am in Minneapolis and I don't have any idea what the local office backlog is since those are not updated online for employment based applications.

Just a question, medical expires a month before interview date.
Shall I get the new medical done now and bring it to the interview?

Hello all

I am pleased to say that my journey to this Green Card is finally coming to an end.

I attended the interview on 19th Jan at the San Jose local office.

They made it a family interview, all together, instead of individual interview. I had a very polite and nice officer to escort us in and finished the interview in about 45 mins. He was a tall white guy. I don't exactly remember his name.

It all felt like a formality. He questioned us about the details in the I-485, travel history and marriage related details. It was a fun interview and he didn't ask for many documents. Passport, EADs and latest I797s. That's it!

In the end, he mentioned that all looks good and he shall be issuing the green card later in the day. I was surprised and happily shocked to learn this then and there.

Later in the day I got my online statuses updated and the card was put into production. My case on tracker is updated with details.

Hopefully I shall be getting Green Cards in mail in next few days!

Thanks to this amazing community and all your strong folks out there, it would have never been easier to deal with this without this reassurance!

Hi NepaliI485,
Congrats and thanks for sharing your experience ! I have my upcoming interview on 20 Feb, at Boston field office. I have a query, does you and your family got the same TIME to attend for the interview, of course on the same day.

I am asking because, in my case ( printed on interview letter), that I have to appear at 8.15 a.m. My wife interview will be at 9.15 a.m. Both are the same rooms. Wondering, does it strictly means the separate, or the officer makes it combo interview ? I would appreciate your thoughts ?

Thanks again !

Best,
vijz

Same was my case. While checking in, just let them know you are family and they will take both your appointment letters and staple it with a single token number.
