Topic: Case Transferred from TSC -> NBC -> TSC

My case was transferred from TSC to NBC in November 2017 and received the physical notice with reason to speed up the process.
Again it is transferred from NBC back to TSC on 13 Feb 2017. The physical notice mentioned the reason for the transfer is to speed up the process.

Is there anyone else in similar situation?

I am also hoping that it will get approved without interview. This is better than holding me in long delay at Atalnta field office.

In another situation, if the case is again sent back to NBC for interview scheduling it will push me back in line for interview scheduling.

We will see.

Here is an update from December. though not directly related to the processing timelines, it shows the situation inside the field office.

Updates on the USCIS Atlanta Field Office
Tracie L. Klinke June 8, 2017 Blog, Opinion
The Atlanta USCIS has been suffering since January. They lost their Field Office Director and a Branch Chief to promotions and a second Branch Chief was out for medical reasons. The folks left behind did their best to continue on, but it’s been difficult. It’s rough in any organization when you lose leaders and key people with a long institutional history.
In the first several months of 2017, the Atlanta Field Office slowed way down. Instead of Naturalization applications being called in for an interview five months after filing the wait time grew. Instead of adjustment of statusapplications being interviewed six months after filing, the wait time grew. For both types of cases, it’s now taking nine months to get an interview date. According to new leadership, they hope to bring that wait time down to seven months by October.
One reason for the slowdown (besides the gaps in leadership) was that the Atlanta Field Office took nearly a month off from interviewing cases. They worked through old cases that had been sitting on shelves for a year or longer. Unfortunately, these older cases were often complicated and USCIS frequently arrived at the wrong decision. After talking with other practitioners, we realized that the quality of adjudications suffered. The denials were based on misinterpretations of the law, they skipped over clients’ rights, and the denials didn’t always have the right facts . This has left clients deciding whether to appeal or refile. An appeal costs nearly $700 and refiling can cost just as much. These cases that USCIS thought they were done with are just going to come right back to them. They may be frustrated, but I’m frustrated, too. I expect better quality adjudications from USCIS.
There is a bright spot in all of this, though. Atlanta does have a new Field Office Director and he seems keen to learn and fix the problems that have come up recently. Of course, no problem that took months to create will be solved overnight, but I’m hopeful that we’ll get back on the right track sooner rather than later. Field Office Director Riddle certainly has his work cut out for him!

Probably understaffed.
I have noticed interviews being scheduled for may 2017 filers at other offices with current processing times around Nov 2016 (eg houston tx).

What you have explained seems logical. Please update me when you received the physical notice.
I am curious about my wait time.

I have a question regarding the update that you received " Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview".
When we will receive this message ? When the file is moving from the NBC or when it is verified at ASC ?

I think you have received such a message when NBC completed file processing and moving to local field office for further interview scheduling. If the file is already with local office they could easily schedule the interview slot and update as "Case is scheduled for interview" and send a letter with interview date.

What do you think ?

For a reference Your field office current processing times are April 1, 2017.
I am close to Atlanta and current processing times here are Dec 15, 2016.

Hi su79,
Congratulations !!
Finally there is an end for the waiting and anxiety.
Thanks for the update. Do you know your local field office or ASC that conducts interviews ?

Also I have observed in trackitt that some people with EB1B cases received updates similar to us are now getting RFER from NBC. However, none of them received interview letter yet. It gives an indication that our cases are also with NBC.

Hi,

Happy new year :)

I spoke with my lawyer. We should only consider the physical notices to follow up. The physical notice is from TSC based on Nov 8 online update. After that many online changes happened without physical notices, so seems all of them are errors as you know. My lawyer suggested that in general GC applications should be processed with in 6 months as per guidelines irrespective of retrogression. However, in reality it takes 6 to 12 months. Lawyer suggested me to wait at least 8 months from the date of application before starting SR, infopass etc. I will wait for an interview letter until mid Feb and start trying options through lawyer. Hope this answer your question.

That means your case is still with the original service center where you filed. Some folks filed I485 in May got their approval from their original service centers in November while other got transferred for interviews. The original processing time for I485 is between 6 to 12 months. If it is already over 8 months, you can do SR. If you have lawyer, she/he might be more informative.

I think the automatic caller machine response on transferring cases to St. Albans, Vermont is an error.
I got the same message on Nov 8, then got another message on Nov 14, then a date change on file on Dec 01. However, never received a physical notice I-797 for any of these messages except the file transfer notice from TSC to NBC on Nov 8.
Finally the auto response said the fmy ile is in Mesquite, TX. I believe this message is also an error.

Other people who got the same response as above got an RFE from NBC to submit supp J for EB1B case.
So it seems our cases are at NBC and waiting for the verification, sorting and sent to local offices for interview. There could be long delay in this process due to new rules. Wait patiently.

Generally yes. I think, they wait until RFE is verified to schedule an appointment. But it will also avoid further delay in approving green card immediately after interview. You may get approval information from officer in person directly.

Those who do not receive RFE before interview may or may not get such info from officer.

I think virtual caller message is wrong, we will listen something from our ASC soon.
