That means that both of your applications are at your local USCIS office. If you don't receive an appointment notice or receive on with different date/time, just go with your wife.

Couple of other people on this forum had the same thing. In your case, not sure if this is due to whether issues, vs workload in your local USCIS center vs you might not need an interview (which is unlikely in the light of recent immigration laws that requires in person interview for change of status).

It is a straightforward process. You don't need a lawyer to do that. Just fill out the form and send the required docs. You can renew it for free since you have a pending I-485. Also, it shouldn't impact your I-485. Just sent my renewal application yesterday to USCIS.

Their Birth certificates would be more than enough.

It looks like that a bunch of May filers got their interviews in 2-3 months and bunch are still waiting. It is really hard to predict nowadays with so many changes in the immigration world in US.

Well, I'm not entirely sure but up to my knowledge people haven't been waiting that long (from following other cases on this website).

EB2- Sent to TSC
PD – 1/5/2017
I-140 and I-485 were filed concurrently and received on 05/26/2017.
1-140 premium processing and approved in Aug (had some minor issues with it and hence took longer than 2 weeks).
Fingerprint: Jun 20th, 2017
EAD/AP - Approved October 4th 2017
Case transferred to NBC on Nov 7th 2017
Interview notice on Jan 18th 2017
Interview scheduled on Feb 21st 2017

Interview experience:

We arrived at the USCIS office at 8:30. Our appointments were at 8:45 (for my wife) and 9:30 (for me).
- They called us in at the same time around 9:50 am and we were done with the interview around 10:25 am.
- First the officer asked us to took the oath and sign a waiver since we didn’t have our attorney with us.
- Then he started asking me questions about my wife (parents’ names, when she came to US, when did we meet, where did she lived in the past, what is her current address, education and if she has any relatives in the states).
- Afterward the officer started to ask my wife about me (Parents’ names, where is my job and what do I for a living, where have we meet and what is my address).
- Then he went over the I-485 questions.
- He asked for ORIGINAL birth certificates (for both us and our 1.5 years kid), most recent W-2s, employment letter, recent paystubs, marriage certificate, passports.
- The officer was professional and friendly as well (my wife didn’t see him as friendly probable because she was stressed out!).

We have been told that there are three possible outcomes, Denial, RFE, or approval of our applications. The officer said that we should here something back in the next 120 days but it normally it takes less than that to make a decision. He said that the system has been slow lately (internet wise) which makes it harder for them to review applications in a timely manner.

- Would really appreciate if someone can share with me how long on average they waited to get a final decision.

Hope this helps and good luck to everyone who is still waiting.

This means that your case was transferred to your local office. The duration that you have to wait to get your interview will depends largely on your local USCIS office workload.

To kalpa,

My case was transferred to NBC on Nov 8th and the status was changed to "Case is ready to be scheduled for interview" on Jan 11th (more than 60 days). Haven't scheduled for interview yet. I think that depends mainly on my local office workload.

My case status changed to: "As of January 11, 2018, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number SRC1*******, for an interview.".

- Hope that USCIS is done with the background check at this point. My local field office is currently processing applications from March 31st 2017. Hope will get interview notice soon!.

- btw, my case status changed on Nov 8th to "Case sent to another office".

Topic: I485 - Case Was Transferred to NBC

anixi41,

The same thing happened to me, also there are other folks on the same boat. The only notice I got in the mail was about the case being transferred to NBC.
In matter of fact, I called USICS today and they transferred to an L2 officer. She said that my case is still at the NBC and this is a standard procedure to distribute the cases load between USCIS offices. Although, up to my knowledge, NBC usually takes care of scheduling an interview at your local office once your RD becomes current there.
- They have just updated USCIS processing time today so you might want to check your local office processing time.
Good luck.

Hello all,

My case was transferred on Nov 8th from TSC to NBC. Does the online status change when they schedule an interview or pretty much stays the same and we only get an interview letter in the mail?

I believe this is a generic response and doesn't mean that you will or won't have to do an interview.

Topic: i485 Case got transferred from TSC to NBC to VSC

Hello All,

I'm pretty much on the same boat.

On Nov 7th, Status changed to "case transferred to another office". The notice later said it went to NBC to expedite the process.

On Nov 9th, status changed to "case received at local office". Didn't get a notice about that in the mail.

then On Nov 16th, status changed to "on NOV 8th, case transferred to another office, that office has jurisdiction ....."

I called USCIS and confirmed that my case at San Alban-Vermont.

Anyone else had the same thing where the case was received at a LOCAL office then changed to another service center?

To mayfiler2017, eb3fupforever and ach2017:

My I-485 status was also changed last week to "Transferred to a another office". The letter I got in the mail said that my case was transferred to NBC (National Benefits Center). Next step is probably scheduling an interview and in some rare case they approve the case without doing an interview. I'm still waiting to hear back from them.
Good luck to all of us.

Anyone knows what is the difference in processing I-485 if the case was transferred from a service center to NBC only vs Service center to NBC then to local office?

To needluck4I485,

I think the timing of the interview and how long you have to wait for it to be scheduled will depend on your local office and how buys they are. Checking there processing time on uscis website.
