Topic: Goodlatte bill coming today - Any details ?

Agree, we are cash cows for immigration lawyers and USCIS. No immigration news encourages me.

Topic: Can I buy Home in H1B now

I purchased a condo 4 years back never repented. Wanted to buy a single family house in next 6 months. If immigration mess stays like this I am strongly considering renting my current place and rent a bigger place.

Topic: H4/EAD visa stamping question

No questions asked about her job. However they asked regular questions about my job. During her journey in US she changed status from H4 to F1 to H1 to H4, she was asked if she was ever out of status and put on admin processing. We were not sure if my wife was out of status during recent COS. Visa was approved after a week on admin processing.

Topic: H4/EAD visa stamping question

My wife is going for H-4 stamping next week. We entered her current/past work location and roles as needed on DS-160. She is working fulltime and has employment letter and pay checks. One of my friend on H-4 EAD/Working went to H-4 stamping in Chennai. Nothing was asked about her work.

Topic: Hospital Bill for Visitor (my dad

If the policy is not in your name it's patient's responsibility to pay the bill and not yours. ERs are expensive, you can always negotiate. Hospitals will be happy with whatever they get than a write off.

Topic: I-140 EAD approved by OMB

I agree, to me an EAD without an AP is an upgrade and no reason to skip international travel. Never had issues with stamping.

Topic: H4 EAD Approved & currently working - Can we transfer to H1B?

I my case we decided my wife to go on H-1 than H-4. She's on OPT now working full time and come october change status to H-1. I didn't want my wife to be dependent on my status.

Topic: Bahamas visa requirement for Cruise travel

You need a Bahamas visa to enter Bahamas. Not sure if you want to make a decision based on our experiences or based on the rules. I went to Bahamas couple years back Carnival cruse folks checked my H-1B visa as well as Bahamas visa. Why take chances ?

Topic: Buying home

Buy, if on H1 I think you need to be in the same company for an year. Most of them are guidelines. You can get a conventional by putting as low as 5%. I wasted 4 years thinking about it, 2 years since I bought my condo. So far seems like a wise decision.

Topic: Off Topic: Huge medical bill after surgery

If you are using UHC, try their cost estimator tool. Ur charges should be pretty close to what they show on estimate. Final bill also depends on what "charge code" hospital used. If hospital entered an incorrect or non covered charge code, insurance company mayn't pay. Also check if you are self insured or fully insured (ur employer will know this).

Topic: Obama care

Anyone can enroll, you may not be eligible for federal subsidy. There is a very good chance you can find a plan with premium lower than what you are paying now (if covered outside of employer provided plans).
