Topic: Computer Programmer to a different role in LCA on H1 transfer

Has anyone transferred their H1 from Computer Programmer to Developer or SQA or something else recently?

In current scenario, when we think transfer itself is a gamble, I wonder if changing LCA role will add anything into the process.

Topic: Timeline for passport receipt for dropbox

Hello Kumar,

I was not asked to attend interview with additional paper documents, in my blue slip simply I was asked to appear interview. I carried all the documents along with me including my Employer Letter and Client Letter to avoid last minute surprise.

From the beginning treatment was bit different comparing to other person (since I was carrying blue slip) and the moment I was asked to join L1 visa people queue I saw something was coming on my way (In Chennai usually L1 visa interviews are handled by only few set of VOs) interview was pretty normal like, Employer name, Client name, Salary related stuff.... I have a strong feel that there were some remarks in his system so he issued blue slip again for additional processing. I didn't leave the spot immediately, I tried to talk with him asking for the reason and explained him the documents I was carrying wiht me and told him how long I was in USA and the reason for my visit to India. Not sure if VO really paid attention to my points, but responded back like mine was just on hold, not rejected and asked me to wait until the additional processing gets over. I felt entered into a black hole and it will take months to get out of it, but to my surprise it was approved next day itself.

Topic: Dropbox for Computer programmer/configurer 2

Hi,
I work in E-C model, India's biggest IT company (that is one of the reason I took my chance)... I posted my timelines in other thread.... I submitted by doc on Monday and Visa was approved on Friday (just 5 business days, but with a stressful 2 days)

Overall I felt it was not worth of taking vacation at this time.

Topic: H1B - 6 Year Clock Reset

I have a curious question on the clock reset after 1 year out of USA.

Let's say, my H1B petition is approved on 2013 means, my 6 year cycle will end in 2019 (or 2020 based on vacation)
If I stayed outside USA for whole 2018 and come back to work on 2019 (same employer), will I just recover that 1 year or whole cycle will reset and from 2019 I will get another 6 years.
If I get whole 6 years, will it be cap exempt or non-exempt?

My above question is purely based on H1B and let us assume my employer does not even start GC processing in the whole time frame.

Topic: Timeline for passport receipt for dropbox

My timelines -

Submitted documents on 06/12
Admin Processing on 06/13
First blue slip on 06/14
Collected PP and appeared interview on 06/15
Second blue (same case number though) slip on 06/15. VO mentioned he need to run additional processing before approval
Issued within 2-3 mins after 10 AM on 06/16

I literally felt I entered in a black hole after the second blue slip and the generic message.... It was indeed a "medical miracle"

Topic: H1b Stamping - Chennai

My friend couple of weeks back he availed drop box facility in Chennai, though for the first time his passport was returned asking him to re-apply with a new one, second time it gone through.....

At the drop box facility, looks like they are not accepting any additional documents (other than the required ones).... but in case of additional questions they will return PPs with slip asking for the extra paper work..... Its always safe to have your end client letter and vendor letter before travelling..... Rest of the docs anyhow you will have it handy, so not a big deal

I am starting this weekend and had to use Drop box, I hope it will flow smoothly fingers crossed :)

Topic: H1b Stamping - Chennai

Dropbox is pretty much a "black box", if everything goes fine you will get your stamped visa..... if something goes wrong, you will not get a hold of what went wrong..... in the matter of interview, even if they require additional documents you will be physically there to provide it or to explain.....

If you are in E-C model with good salary, you may not get any issues with drop box... but scenarios like, change in PP or Employer or EVC, drop box may not be a direct case

May I know how you opted for interview?

My friend's status -

Drop box location - Chennai
Submitted documents on May-2

Passport collected yesterday May-9 with blue slip. In the slip he was asked to resubmit with "New Passport". Has anyone else came across this request in the past? He is in E-C model and the new passport was taken by him hardly 1.5 years back. Using the same passport he got stamped last year and landed USA last February.

If you dont mind can you please let us know when was your last stamping done?

I am in an assumption that, fingerprinting was called only for people who did their interview few years back (>2).... Can someone who has gone through fingerprinting can enlighten on this topic?

Well, I too told the same :) In his post ETL quoted the below, so I wanted to touch base with him

"If you are working for a big reputed company I would suggest you to go for face to face interview. That is much faster now. Let me know if you need more information."

Topic: Trump cancels visa drop box

I have couple of my team mates landed in ORD on 29th evening, no issues in POE.

At the same time, I was told that one of our desi guy was deported since he had multiple layers between E and C.... It could be one another rumor, since I dont know that guy who was deported personally I would want to ignore this story....
